[ So, in order for Prompto to be able to cope with the loss of his beloved baby choco-chic, Noctis picked up a box of fresh baked chocolate donuts and chocolate milk for his blonde friend. The edibles would surely send Igs into a fit of warnings, disclaimers, and promises as to where this junk was going to go and how little the nutritional value was of the “food”.
This is what people call emotional eating, soul food, food to soak up the tears––etc.
Noct wouldn’t give Prompto a hard time about it, hell, he was enabling the emotional eating; something he could be guilty of as well. It was no secret how little he enjoyed certain types of food and the lengths in which he’ll go to avoid them.
For now, this would do.
Six came and Noctis was waiting for his friend’s hearty knock at his door, or (honestly) for Prompto to let himself in. They all had keys to his flat. That’s just the kind of entitled friends he had. Noct was currently on the couch, his homework spread out before him, and the television on to some crime documentaries. ]
[Prompto swore off of emotional eating a long time ago, but it rears its head every now and then. And leaving the bird back when it obviously wanted to come with him (the Chocobo chirped after him as he was leaving which broke Prompto's heart), so now, he decided, he's going to drown in donuts.
...at least Noct is supporting him? Prompto wants to feel bad that he will most likely get Noct roasted by Iggy for eating junk food but- he made him return the chick. There are consequences. (He will pointedly ignore the fact that Noct did it so Ignis doesn't break his neck).
He was right on time- he knocked to let Noct know he's here and then opened the door himself. No need to get up.]
Noooct~! I'm here! [That's a bag dropped by the wall in the hallway as he toes off his shoes.] You in the living room?
[ Noct scoots up at the sound of Prompto at the door, but as soon as he hears the door open he scoots back to the back of the couch. He mutes the television and answers. ] Yup, come on in.
[ He sets the television remote down on the couch beside him and watches for his friend. Try as Prompto might, there are some things the blonde cannot hide; like that great well of disappointment he walks in the flat with. Noct pulls a breath in and offers a soft smile to his friend. He can understand not being able to have something you really wanted.. But, what could Prompto do with a choco-chick? Honestly, you can't just keep the bird in your room! Noct's smile thickens and he pats the cushion next to him. ]
Come here.
[ If Prompto obliges, the blonde will get a warm and strong embrace. ]
[He heads towards the couch- then remembers that he left the pictures in the bag. So he goes back, digs them all out and then joins Noct on the couch. Plopping down next to him, trying not to look too disappointed because he's right. He can't keep choco chick no matter how much he loves it and no matter how much the little chick loves him back.
So, he will have to make do with pictures.]
As promised! The pic- whoa-! [He laughs a bit at the hug, almost dropping everything on the floor. He leans on Noct a little, shifting so he can show Noct the pictures while he's getting the hug!]
[ Noct loosens his arms around Prompto and takes the pictures in his hands to look at. He wears an easy smile to his face and compliments the bird and Prompto as he files through the photos. ]
You’re getting better every shot you take.. I swear..
I really like this one. [ He taps on the photo on the front of the stack. ] He’s cute.. I don’t think I’ve seen a black chick before. I bet his mom was happy to see him back home. Prompto.
[ His tone was careful, yet, teasing as he indicated that Prompto wouldn’t be an appropriate mother for the bird. ]
Hey, that's kind of a description in the hobby, haha, [Prompto says with a sheepish smile, rubbing the back of his neck. He loves when his pictures get complimented, especially if those come from Noct.]
Ehh, now that you mention it, I didn't see the big Chocobo... [He trails off, trying to remember if there were any adult black chocobos around. Hopefully, they were rented and out somewhere and that it will come back to the little one.]
But yeah, you're right, [he just sighs, chin on palms of his hands, peering over at where Noct is looking at pictures.]
[ He gives them another round and picks out two. ]
You made copies, right? I don’t want to take something you don’t have a backup of.
[ He hands the stack of photos back to Prompto. He then sets the two he wants on the coffee table. Noctis stands and trails over to the kitchen where he gets out the chocolate milk and two glasses. He pours the drink and puts the milk back in the fridge. He brings the milk to the coffee table then makes a trip back to the kitchen to grab the box of donuts.
Once that’s set down on the table he settles himself back down on the couch with a small huff. ]
[Seriously. He has tons of pics and the ones Noct took he already has on his memory card. Prompto has to praise Noct's good eye tho too- he picked out the best shots he took!
When Noct gets up, Prompto's eyes follow him curiously and he turns in his seat- oh! He... actually bought the doughnuts. And chocolate milk. Now he feels kind of bad, that his whining got Noct to buy him stuff.]
A... good boy? Am I a puppy now? [He asks with a small chuckle and takes the glass-] You... didn't actually have to go and buy this y'know. Thanks tho. [That smile Noct gets is a bit brighter than the one he had when he walked in the apartment.]
[ Noct rolls his eyes and reaches for his milk to sip at. It’s nice and cool in his mouth and the taste is satisfying. He sets the glass down and licks his lips. ]
You could be. I wanted to buy the stuff for you. Rewarding good behavior helps train the puppy. Didn’t you know?
[ He gives Prompt a smirk, his eyes fall over the blonde’s face. He felt bad for his friend. All this guy needed was to go live on the chocobo farm. He really ought to do it. ]
You ever think about.. you know.. going and running a chocobo farm for real?
Yeah, I knew that! That's why I asked, [Prompto laughs, rolling his eyes. The chocolate milk is great and Prompto goes through half of it before leaving the glass on the coffee table and leaning back on the couch, stretching a bit.]
Mmmh? [Prompto raises his eyebrows.] Me? On a chocobo farm? Dude, I dunno. It sounds like a paradise but I'm not sure if I can raise them properly.
'Sides, who will keep an eye on you? [He playfully punches Noct's shoulder.]
Igs would. Anyway, you would learn how to raise them up properly. You can start working on a farm that’s already established and go into business of your own.. some day.
[ Noct leans back on the couch, his feet stretch out before him and he settles his hands on his gut in a soft clasp. ]
[Prompto laughs and nabs the doughnut from the box and shifts to sit sideways on the couch so he can face Noct.]
Perhaps I will. But, I think I will be satisfied with just owning one chocobo, [Prompto hums thoughtfully and then bites into the doughnut. Damn, it's good. Trust Noct to know all the best places.]
[ Noct’s lips press tight together and his brows furrow. Just didn’t seem like it was good enough. ] Well, in any case, you’re going to need a farm to keep your chocobo and I can already see one turns into two and then three, then fifteen suddenly.
We’ll see about this. [ He gave Prompto a grin and crossed his arms across his chest. ] Just you wait.
[Well, that's true, he will need a farm. Or a house big enough to keep a chocobo in, with an outside garden and space for running and everything. Why does it feel like he won't ever be able to acquire something as idyllic as that?]
Hmm... and if I have small choco chicks, I'd name one after you! [Noct's shoulder gets a playful poke.]

[Prompto was mid-bite when Noct reached out for the doughnut. It gets a quirked eyebrow from him- and then offer to tear off a bit from the treat if Noct actually wants it.]
I'm not going to be crazy! ...am I? Am I really going to sit in front of my house, yelling at "dem kids to get off ma' lawn" with a shotgun in hands?!
[ The offer of the doughnut was actually really sweet and Noct found himself taking the piece that was offered to him. Prompto was just the best; he sat in silence a moment wondering on his friend’s massive heart.
Noct pops the piece in his mouth and chews it down. He swallows and licks at his fingers. ]
Absolutely. You’re going to have your guns out on your lap and signs all over the place warning off strangers about your untamed chocobos.. I mean, it’s really in your cards.
[Well, Noct got him the treats so it's only fair he shared (although, to be fair, he'd share anything he has with Noct, if he's interested in it). He smiles at that and devours the rest of it, licking off his own fingers.]
I'll need a cowboy hat. And a rocking chair. And I'll have those albums we talked about to "show dem kids dem chocobos"... If I let them come close.
...dude. [Prompto laughs,] this is too ridiculous, even for me!
Prompto! [ He gasps and his hand moves forward to hold onto his friend’s arm, a serious expression settles hard on his face. ] This is your life we’re talking about. There is nothing ridiculous about it!
[ He gently shoves his friend’s arm and laughs lightly. ] Ah, man..
[ He pulls in a breath and exhales. Noct reaches for his milk and takes a good long sip of it before he sets it down and licks his lips. He then looks over to Prompto. ]
Well-! It IS a bit ridiculous thinking I'll be shooting people off just because they come on my lawn! [More laughing. Seriously, Noct, he's not like that. Well, hopefully, he won't be like that.
Prompto shakes his head and gives Noct a beaming smile-]
Nah, nothing else. I'm just happy sitting like this and talking to you. 'S more than enough.
[ Noct chuckles and nods happily in return. ] Great… good. [ He then lifts a hand up to push some of his raven hair back from his face. ] So, I won’t have to take away your guns. Good.
Man, I think.. out of all of us, you’re going to have the best old life. I’ll be King doing.. King-stuff, and you’ll be my right hand man … getting fat off my riches. Ignis will be the King’s personal cook, of course, and Gladio is probably going to be working job after job to pay for all his bastard children he’s got spread around the land.
[That hair never stays back in place, Prompto doesn't know why Noct even tries to move it out of his eyes. 'S cute tho.]
A right-hand man, huh? I thought Iggy would be that, y'know, since he's your advisor, not cook. [Prompto laughs.]
I will be... an ace in your sleeve. A backup plan. And my chocobo farm will be a place where you come to hide from anyone that annoys you. You'll get to cuddle all the chocochicks, sleep until noon and eat crappy, sugar-loaded food 'cuz I can't cook to save myself.
[ Noct could get behind that and he nods with a huff through his nostrils. ]
Yeah, … I guess you’re right. You’ll just have to be my vacation spot. [ He chuckles. Then he recalls something he’d learned about–– that was relevant to Prompto’s text some time ago. ]
